Multidisciplinary design optimization of ship hulls

The multi-disciplinary design optimization is an important technology for ship engineering. Especially the combination of complex constraints, various target functions and time consuming simulations (e.g. CFD) requires the development of new algorithms. The new Constraint Efficient Global Optimization (CEGO) method meets these requirements. As a result, the resistance of the hull was reduced by 18.8% and the weight by 14.3% compared to the initial design.
